Bread
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (around 110 degrees)
Directions
- Mix water, 1/2 the sugar, yeast
- Cover and let rest for 5 minutes
- Whisk together flour, salt, and 1/2 the sugar
- Mix water into dough
- Knead and form into a ball
- Rest in a loosely covered bowl for 3 hours at room temperature
- Add a pinch of flour and knead dough a little
- Form into a round shape and place back in the covered bowl on top of parchment paper
- Preheat oven with a cast iron skillet (needs a lid) or dutch oven at 450 degrees
- Place dough and parchment paper into the cast iron with the lid on and return to oven for 30 minutes
- Remove the lid and continue baking for 5 - 10 minutes or until a golden brown crust forms
- Remove from cast iron and allow to cool
