Ingredients

Directions

  1. Mix water, 1/2 the sugar, yeast
  2. Cover and let rest for 5 minutes
  3. Whisk together flour, salt, and 1/2 the sugar
  4. Mix water into dough
  5. Knead and form into a ball
  6. Rest in a loosely covered bowl for 3 hours at room temperature
  7. Add a pinch of flour and knead dough a little
  8. Form into a round shape and place back in the covered bowl on top of parchment paper
  9. Preheat oven with a cast iron skillet (needs a lid) or dutch oven at 450 degrees
  10. Place dough and parchment paper into the cast iron with the lid on and return to oven for 30 minutes
  11. Remove the lid and continue baking for 5 - 10 minutes or until a golden brown crust forms
  12. Remove from cast iron and allow to cool
